1. Primary Introduction:
Mohammad Aminul Haque (born: 5 October 1980) is a former professional footballer of Bangladesh and a current politician. On the football field, he is regarded as one of Bangladesh’s most successful goalkeepers, and on the political stage, he has established himself as an active leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

2. A Well-Known Footballer of the Country:
Aminul Haque began his football career in 1994 by joining the youth team of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club. Later, he had the opportunity to play as a goalkeeper for all the top domestic league clubs, including Farashganj, Muktijoddha Sangsad, Brothers Union, and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.
3. On the International Stage:
At the international level, he made his debut for the Bangladesh national team in 1999. His contribution in the national jersey was significant—between 1998 and 2010, he played approximately 47 international matches and led Bangladesh in various tournaments.
Winning the SAFF Championship in 2003 was one of the golden chapters of his football career; in addition, he was an indispensable member of the team that won the gold medal at the South Asian Games in 2010.
Sports analysts consider him the greatest goalkeeper of all time in Bangladesh and one of the finest goalkeepers in South Asia.
4. Retirement from Football and the Path to Politics:
After retiring from international and domestic football following 2010, Aminul Haque entered the political arena with a renewed commitment to serving the country. From his childhood, he had a desire to work for the nation and its people, which ultimately materialized through joining the politics of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
Around 2013–2014, he formally joined the BNP and assumed responsibilities in various important party positions. At present, he is the Convener of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP and the Sports Affairs Secretary of the Central Committee.
Within the BNP organization as well, he quickly emerged as an active leader, placing emphasis on expanding the party’s sports-related activities across the country.
5. Struggles in Political Life and Social Service:
Aminul Haque’s journey in politics was by no means easy. At different times, he endured difficult periods, including arrest and imprisonment, for participating in political movements and expressing support. At the core of his political struggle has been a firm stance in favor of democracy, people’s rights, and good governance.
According to him, the political field is far more difficult than the football field, because it is directly connected to the destiny and development of the people of the country.
6. Leadership and Multifaceted Roles:
Aminul Haque is not only a politician; he also plays an active role in serving society at various levels. He inspires the youth of the party toward political leadership, increases opportunities for participation in sports and youth activities, and brings forward the people’s development-oriented demands.
His political philosophy is fundamentally based on democracy, freedom, fair elections, and the establishment of people’s rights.
7. A Promising Future:
The life of Mohammad Aminul Haque is an inspiring example in which a successful athlete—having become a legend on the football field—has now devoted himself to representing the people and serving society in the political arena. This dual journey of football and politics does not only make him a hero of the sporting world; it also establishes him as a determined soldier of local leadership and social change.
If Aminul Haque can earn the trust of the people as the BNP candidate from the Dhaka–16 constituency, then his political future will depend on grassroots leadership, public engagement, and his effective role in opposition politics. To ensure longevity in politics, he will need to maintain a visible and consistent role in solving real local problems alongside his party position. It seems he is indeed capable in this regard.
