The first hints of this transformation began under the leadership of newly elected Vice President Sadiq Kayem. Professor Sirajum Munira Rumi of the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, once described him as a “Global Emerging Youth Icon.” Those words seem almost magical. For female students at DU, the campus now feels like a safe space for movement. The touch of change in the halls is such that no one is forced to sleep on the floor anymore. Beds and quality food at affordable prices have been ensured for everyone. The extortion, surveillance, and eve-teasing of the old days seem to have vanished into the pages of history.

New air conditioners have been installed in the mosques. Libraries, seminar rooms, and laboratories have been transformed into environments unlike before. Readers and researchers seem to have entered a new chapter of comfort. Girls can now access necessary supplies from sanitary pad vending machines placed conveniently during critical times.

It is as if Dhaka University has now become a living novel. Every corner, every floor, every pathway tells its own story—sometimes a hero, sometimes a heroine. Light sparkles on the hall balconies, and in the lab, the voices of students echo with renewed enthusiasm.

The newly elected Vice President Sadiq Kayem has become, simultaneously, a brother, a friend, and a guide. His initiatives have given Dhaka University a new form—a form in which students feel safe, comfortable, creative, and eager for discovery.

This is not just a university—it is now a story, a way of life.
