1. The expectation that arose around Dr. Yunus’s government:

The nation then seemed imprisoned in a cave of long darkness. People were searching for light in the air, softly singing songs of change.
Just then, Dr. Muhammad Yunus stepped onto the stage. In his hand would be the “July Charter”—like a guiding star found by a lost sailor. People thought, perhaps now there would be an election for a Constituent Assembly, a new constitution would be born, and in the light of that constitution, a new state would awaken, where a morning sun would rise! Such waves of hope spread everywhere. The people were elated!

2. The guide’s very deviation from the path:

But as the clock of time turned, the star of dreams was veiled by clouds.
Mr. Yunus could have lit the thunderbolt of revolution in the sky, but he chose the cloud of silence. In the name of drafting the July Charter, years passed! It seemed like an immobile clock on his table—showing no time at all!
Instead of revolutionary change came hesitation, came compromise, came uncertainty.
People realized, the lamp of hope was flickering! A flickering lamp is easily extinguished by wind; but a blazing wildfire flares up even more in the wind. Dr. Yunus failed to show that wildfire.

3. Journalist Masud Kamal’s warning:

When a flickering lamp fails to give light! At that dark moment, journalist Masud Kamal roared out a warning. His voice spread like thunder—
“Everyone entrusted with the responsibility of the interim government must be held accountable before leaving office. Their passports must be seized. Every allegation must be investigated.”
Those words were no longer mere news, but letters engraved on the wall of history.
Earlier, many had warned—if Mr. Yunus truly could not bring revolutionary change, then the hand of law would not spare him!

4. No chance of leaving silently:

After spending time with closed eyes in a locked palace, Yunus now wants to open the palace doors. He wishes to depart silently, as if nothing had happened.
But standing before him is the invisible army of law—always vigilant like night sentries.
The words of veteran Supreme Court lawyer Abu Hena Razzaki once again echoed in the sky:
“In the eyes of the law, he is not legitimate. Therefore, no matter how he wants to relinquish power, there is no escape.” In the end, the situation may come to such a point that—
cracks appear on the palace walls, ornaments fall off, and the throne begins to tremble.

5. Awaiting the verdict of the court of history:

At last, the verdict is about to be declared in the court of history.
If the ornaments of rule are not founded upon the rock of legitimacy, then they are nothing but a mirage in the desert.
The story of the Yunus government is thus today a lesson—
if the star of hope is hidden by clouds, it gives no light.
The sun of justice will, one day or another, pierce through the clouds, and then a handful of power will turn to dust. Everything is but the harvest of his own hand. Because, to preserve himself, he paid no heed to the counsel of the heroes of the mass uprising! By denying his own legitimacy, by denying elections, he and his entire interim government must pay the price. What fate awaits the July warriors—who knows?
