4 December 2025—Even the cold breeze of a winter dawn seemed frozen today, like the conscience of the nation itself. A small column in the pages of Daily Ittefaq hurled into the chest of the state a long, burning question mark.
The matter is clear, naked, and terrifying—
The banned Awami League’s ‘Boat’ symbol was first secretly preserved by the Election Commission, and later openly placed on the postal ballot.
This is no Election Commission,
rather a group of party-dependent mechanical priests standing before the dark altar of power—
whose only task is to obey commands, not uphold oaths;
whose conscience awakens only at the sound of a seal, not at the call of the law.
The symbol was banned—this was the law of the state.
But the Boat was immortal—this was the Election Commission’s religious belief.
The EC’s act was not merely a violation of law—
it was a fearless audacity before the nation,
a political obscenity,
an administrative mockery.
When the act of preserving the symbol drew the initial blueprint of bias,
placing the Boat symbol on the postal ballot turned that blueprint into a brutal reality—
where the paper of citizens’ votes became a permanent advertisement sheet for a banned party’s symbol.
This Commission speaks of neutrality, yet holds the oar of the Boat in its hands.
For them, the law is merely a display item—
like a broken sword kept on a theatre stage,
meant not for battle,
but only for show.
This Election Commission is not merely incompetent—
they are guilty, biased, violators of the law, and unworthy of the people’s trust.
So today, it is not a question—
a verdict must be delivered.
First Verdict:
The Election Commission must be formally held accountable for preserving the Boat symbol.
For the preservation of the symbol was the first secret door to injustice,
through which the later wrongdoing of the postal ballot entered.
Second Verdict:
For placing the Boat symbol on the postal ballot, this Commission must be declared guilty.
Violating a nation’s electoral process is not an error—it is a grave offense akin to treachery against the state.
Third Verdict:
This Election Commission must be dissolved immediately.
Just as a surgeon cuts away rotten tissue to preserve the possibility of new life—
so must this Commission be removed from the body of democracy.
Fourth Verdict:
A completely new, neutral, fearless, law-abiding Election Commission must be formed—
one that is not a slave to symbols, but a servant of the people.
Because an election is not merely the day of voting—
it is the honor of the nation,
the artery of the rule of law,
the only oxygen of freedom.
And when oxygen becomes toxic,
the first step is—
to break the old cylinder.
